Today is the review for Inescapable: Book one of the Premonition Series which just happens to be

WINNER OF THE UTOPYA 2012 CON AWARD FOR BEST DEBUT NOVEL!!!
How awesome is that! *happy dance*

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.

Now, I should warn you that I completely devoured these books, so my personal feelings about the characters have been messed with due to later events, so if you catch me going off, just slap me and tell me to get back on track ;)

Amy has a way to her writing that is absolutely fascinating to me. Not only does she easily draw you into the story, but she also has a way of making a bad thing funny. Example:

Stepping on a rake: Bad...... yet we laugh (because we're sadistic like that)
So, reading some of Amy's scenes are like watching people step on a rake ^.^

In Inescapable, you will discover a new plane of existence when it comes to what-the-ef-ery.
You will be wanting to literally jump INTO the book and b*tch slap the hell out of people.
Some you'll want to kill.
Some you'll want to have as your bff's FOR-EV-ER!!!
And then, there's some that you will WISH with all their might that they we're real just so you could kidnap them and do many, many pervy things to their hotness (Oh yeah, I'm thinking of a specific character, but we'll get to him later ;) )
And its really REALLY hard to write this review because its one of those books that you can go on about FOREVER because it's completely awesome and addicting, but when people haven't read the series then it just becomes you telling them every little detail about it which is, *sighs*, not a good thing.

When it comes to Evie, I've developed a love/hate relationship with her over the course of the books in the series. Don't get me wrong, she's completely awesome and if a certain character didn't want her then I wouldn't be tempted to slaughter her in her sleep. She's beautiful, strong, kind, and willing to sacrifice herself for those that she loves which makes anyone totally epic in my book.
But I've staked claim on a fictional character..... who's not in this book, but the next one, and will fight her to the death (and probably  lose) over him ;)

Reed, ah you adorable little grumpy angel you.  I started out loving you, I did, but then you just had to fall for Evie, which was a 'Yay! Wait, NO!' moment for me. Why? Because I was happy for them, yet at the same time I had a thing for Reed, so it was also a negative.
BUT Amy makes it up to you (you falling in love with the characters. Yes, it will happen, I've even seen some EPIC fights over which team you're on) by throwing a SH*T TON of powerpacked w-t-f moments. Want to slap your momma w-t-f moments.

And FINALLY! hehe

  2. Hmmm... That question is hard to answer. Whose to say a bad boy can't be a soul mate? And usually in these types stories, when the bad boy falls in love he becomes reformed in some way. All I know is that even though I like Reed, Russell, and Xavier, I really really hope Reed and Evie end up together in the End.

  4. I love this series with all my heart and they way you've described this is... Perfection. Oh I can't count the number of times I've wanted to personally jump through my Kindle and start murdering for the sake of flawed logic and stupidity. Anyway I love love love this series and it's fantastic.

    1. I'm happy you liked the review! I found myself wanting to throw my kindle (*holds it closely to me while whispering 'my precious'*) a couple of times because I became so homicidal towards some of the characters lol

  5. ANYWAY, since I totally forgot to leave my preference, I'd like to create a separate comment post to say:

Reformed. There's something about someone who has a deep dark past and I love that they've worked to change that. You still get the bad boy edge because that truly never wears out, and for all you know said reformed guy might be the one to BE the soul mate.

    1. mmm.... bad boys... there's just something about them that makes the heart skip a beat and your bad side want to come and visit ;) Totally love it when they find 'the one' that can take away some of their harshness and let them be free to love *sighs*

  7. The characters in this series are so perfectly fascinating I find myself thinking about them even when I am not reading. All of these characters do have a similarity within their personalities... they all have a deep passion and are driven so intently by it. Bartol has done a fabulous job thrusting these characters into my heart. They have latched on and are never letting me go.

  8. I like the trifecta. Soul mate bad boy who reforms, but still maintains his bad boy edge. There's no reason a girl can't have her cake and eat it, too! ;)
Loved this review. Like reading my thoughts! ♥

  15. I must say, I have never read a book that draws me into the story line like this book did :). I read this series twice now and I still say my preferred type is bad boy only because I love Brennus! He's hard core and yet very seductive at the same time♥ Reed and Xavier is the ultimate lover, and Russle and Zee are the soul mates for life..... Team Brennus:)

  16. Love this series! In most books I have read lately, there is the guy I love and the guy I wish would just go away. In this series, there are several guys and I love them all. So much eye candy for my imagination!! Reed is just...well, Reed in all his hotness. However, I have a soft spot for Brennus and his boys. I loved them. I really did. I think I have a thing for the bad boy.

Well while Brennus certainly had me in the throws of wicked temptation, I must stay true to Team Reed. He has all the right stuff !
