FOUR DAYS OF BARTOL DAY FOUR!!!!

Its the FINAL DAY!
THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! (hehe)
Today is the (as yet) last book in the Premonition Series,
Incendiary.

Cold, fine drops of rain fall softly on my cheeks as I emerge from the darkness of the ship’s interior to the gray, overcast sky of the main deck. Pulling my dark pea coat tighter to my body, the wind lifts red tendrils of my hair. I walk slowly to the railing overlooking the water.

I catch my first sight of the Irish coastline; its craggy landscape makes me shiver in dread. I find it difficult to imagine now how the Gancanagh had made this their home for so long without anyone realizing it. The cold, moss-covered edifices practically scream their presence. As I study the shadows between the falling-down stone, I imagine creeping shapes of undead Faeries grasping the rock, waiting for our ship to draw nearer to their position.

Tipping my face up, I let the rain wash over me. It bathes away the frigid sweat of fear that has broken on my brow. “You don’t know how fiercely beautiful you are, do you?” A quiet voice behind me asks, causing me to stiffen and fix my eyes on the rocks along the shoreline.

FOUR DAYS OF BARTOL DAY THREE!!!

Ow Ow!
We're at Day Three my lovelies!!!
Today is the review of Indebted!
You guys seem to be having fun fighting for your men lol
Lets see how well you do today ;)

I hang my head in sorrow for just a moment when I know I am truly alone. I feel like I’m going to my execution, just as he had said. Then I move forward again. I hop a fence of fieldstone and cross a field dotted with Queen Anne’s lace. Goose bumps rise on my arms as I pass the cluster of windmills that I have seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon me in visions. I gaze down the hill, beyond the small, whitewashed house that I knew would be there. The church looms dark and grim with its rough-hewn, timber fa├žade, capped by tall, oblong spires reaching to the sky. Black, ominous clouds have collected above the roofline, as if Heaven is showing me the way.

FOUR DAYS OF BARTOL DAY TWO!

Woot Woot!
Day Two is HEEEERRREEEE!!!
Today is the review of Intuition, second book in the Premonition Series :)

I don’t open my eyes so I can’t see him, but I can smell him. He thickens the air I breathe, choking me with his scent…his aroma. I shiver. I have to resist. If I’m not strong, then I will be relegated to the same fate as this predator whose sickness infects me even now. But now, I crave him and he knows that; he has been counting on my need to end the gnawing pain. How he would savor my surrender. I’m alive, but how much longer will it take until I beg him not to be?

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.

The Dragon Empire by Heather McCorkle

Review for The Dragon Empire by Heather McCorkle

On Yacrana dragons are the advanced species. But advanced doesn't always mean civilized...

There's trouble in the Dragon Empire, the kind that could start a war between dragons and the races of people. Hidden factions of dragons believe they should rule the lesser races, not simply stand aside and allow them to develop as they will. Having lived so long in peace, the Emperors turn a blind eye, many oblivious that such attitudes even exist.

Despite being only an architect class, emerald dragon, Grendar is willing to risk banishment and death to stop that which his rulers refuse to see. The hope of peace lies not within the scaled breast of a dragon however, but within the hands of a group of people. But if the hidden factions have their way, these people won’t live to fulfill such a destiny. With a reluctant seer at his side, Grendar must leave his precious Empire for the outside world to save those that will one day save his kind.

The Dragon Empire Blog Tour!

Today we're celebrating the release of Heather McCorkle's fantasy novel, The Dragon Empire! For today's stop Heather is answering the following question:

What was the hardest part about writing this novel?

Heather: The main character has been bullied his entire life and lives in constant fear of beatings that are getting so bad, they may one day kill him. At twenty years old, that's a long time to put up with such abuse and it has severely damaged his self-esteem and confidence. Writing that was hard, and heartbreaking in many ways.

Here is a bit about it:

While The Dragon Empire is for ages young adult and up, it does contain mild violence and some difficult subject matter.

How many of you guys are excited about this?!? I know I am! I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy *happy dance* and the review for it will be posted tomorrow! eek!
Don't forget to add The Dragon Empire to your TBR lists!

Until next time, Happy Reading!

FIVE DAYS OF HEATHER DAY FIVE!!! eeep!

Today is the final day of the FIVE DAYS OF HEATHER!
Wahooo!
Luckily for me, everyday is a Heather day :) Soooo if you want your Heather days, add her on FACEBOOK and TWITTER!
Lots of fun stuff hehe.

Anyways! Today is the review of DreamKiller: The Complete Saga!

They call her the DreamKiller.

Silent, stealthy, and above all, accurate, as long as she carries out exactly what her dreams predict. Marlena Gormand kills to protect. Herself. Her way of life. The children at Little Hearts Orphanage. Until she learns these are not the reasons she’s been asked to kill. Not at all.

Azura Mkesky is the headmistress of Little Hearts Orphanage and the only parent-figure Marlena remembers. Azura taught Marlena everything she knows, from her combat skills to her unswerving loyalty to their cause. And Azura has always been there for her. But Azura has a secret. One that she’s used and manipulated Marlena and everyone else in order to protect.

Lukas Hristov knows Azura’s heart is dark—from both personal experience and the visions provided by his Sight. For too long, he’s stood aside while Azura’s reach of power and deception expands. When he can take it no longer and emerges from the shadows, he comes face to face with Marlena. For him, she is where it began. And she is where it ends. He is determined to make this right, to make her believe the truth.

And as the story unravels, Marlena begins to question whose secrets her dreams really protect.

Each book in the DreamKiller saga is actually more like a novella than a regular novel. No probs there because it is a really quick, fascinating read.
Think X-Men meets XXX (and not porn you pervs, more like 'Triple X' Staring Vin Diesel :P).

The story line is really complex, but not in the 'WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT??!!??' kind of way, but more in the fascinating, 'I'm going to play lab rat and dissect this story piece by piece until all the beautiful little pieces are mine to command *insert mad scientist laugh*' way.

Okay, now I do have something negative to say about it though.  The storyline was obviously well thought out, the characters in themselves are fascinating and complex and the relationships between characters are great, but when you have all that much greatness slammed into novella sized bites, it's rather irritating because it has the uber possibility to be so much mooore.

I wanted more. More details, more back history, but mainly because I'm a book hog and didn't want it to end ;)

Now, as you can see my negative really isn't a 'negative', more like me being the whiny book brat that I am. Ta da!!! *throws a fit*
(now you know where my 4yr old gets her temper from ;) )

What I loooooved about this book: It's completely different than other science fiction-ey books that I have read.  Normally whenever you read a book that has people with powers, you're all like 'oooh how original *rolls eyes*, I've never heard that one before', then proceed to cuss out said book. BUT with DreamKiller there are powers that completely took me by surprise and had me with a 'huh, didn't see that coming' and a 'WHAT THE EF I TOTALLY WANT THAT POWER' moments. Yeah, no stupid flying 'superpower' here ladies and gentlemen. We're talking about bad a** Zena Warrior Princess of superpowers.

It's all fascinating, and that leads me again to the whole *throws fit* I want more and I want it now with more back stories and detaaaaiiiiilllllssss!

Sooooo, whatcha waiting for? Go get ya some!

FIVE DAYS OF HEATHER DAY FOUR!

Welcome to Day Four of the FIVE DAYS OF HEATHER!
We're almost there! woot woot!
Today is the review for Whisper and another chance for you to enter the Giveaway!!!
An update of my pinched nerve, it's FINALLY starting to become more manageable, and I have about 80% usage of my right arm. Woooo! It's all about the babysteps ;)
But enough about me and my 'boo boo', here we gooooo!

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…

Okay, so I had a rather difficult time reading Whisper, not because it was bad, because it wasn't. Rather because the pain that she felt was so real that it hurt to read the depth of her loss.
No one can write that much depth to such sorrow without of feeling it first hand, and the entire time I was reading I just wanted to grab Heather, and hold her until the pain went away.

Now, as for the story line, I loved how the book was based on the Cherokee people and beliefs. To often whenever you read a book that has any form of Indian ancestry you don't get an actual 'feel' for the beliefs and connection to nature and the 'people' that the Cherokee have, which becomes rather annoying.  But, in Whisper you get a true sense of the Cherokee people, and within the book, their beliefs of the soul and how all things are connected, which is truly magical.

The love story in Whisper is a love that lasts through the ages.... literally.
Talk about undying love! Is it wrong that I want that??? nah, didn't think so ;)
Even though its a change of pace from Heather's Dirty Blood series, it is in no way less intense or loveable, it just has a different, more easy flow to it filled with soul deep emotions that leave imprints on yourself, leaving you, in a way, forever changed.

There's not much I can tell you about the book without giving too much away (and I HATE spoilers),
so I'll leave it all to you to find the magic for yourself ;)

FIVE DAYS OF HEATHER DAY THREE!!!

Okay, so I want to apologize beforehand for my lateness. I know, I'm horrible and I apologize.
I pinched a nerve in my neck so I have limited mobility in my right arm. I swear I am the only human in existence who can hurt itself while reading *falls over*
Anyways, since I'm currently in gimp mode I extended Heathers' spotlight, which also gives everyone two more days to enter the contests :D Yay so gimpy is a #WIN for you guys ;)

Now on with the show!

Hybrids.

If I had to choose one word to sum up all of my problems, this would be it.
Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to watch my best friend slowly becoming a monster. Without hybrids, I could let go of the mentality “hunt or be hunted.” CHAS wouldn’t be scouring the Earth, intent on slaughtering and using Alex to do it. Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to be on guard that losing my temper meant losing my shape. There would be no monster inside me, struggling to get out.

Then again, without hybrids, I wouldn’t have Wesley St. John.

Ooooookay
So first off, I have to say WHAT THE FLYING HOLY MONKEYS HEATHER! I swear I cussed your a*s out for about 20 mins after you left me hanging like that! AHHHHHHH SERIOUSLY WOMAN!!!!!

I would totally disown you if you left the series off like that... but luckily for you and my homicidal ideals, you haven't finished yet *evil laugh* ;)

Now, with book three we run into an epic showdown with Hybrids *duhn duhn duuuuuhn* but not exactly how you think.  Seriously, the twists that Heather ends up bitch slapping you with will leave you with whiplash.  Was TOTALLY NOT expecting ANY of that freaking stuff to happen... but I'm  sooooo glad it did.
Along with the Hybrids, Tara has to choose her destiny, one path will lead to the salvation of all species, the other will lead to death and continuous bloody war (Yay violence!)
Now, while she's making some epic  choices in this book that would have you running from the room screaming from all the pressure, you don't get a sense of where all of her choices will lead her, and whether or not she'll bring peace to the races or die a horrible utter failure.  While each decision is cohesive in the context of her character, the final outlook is yet to be discovered, and I love it! Creates a total emotional whirlwind!
I'm kid of hoping she'll turn evil, just because I'm nefarious like that and always wonder what would actually happen if the good guy/girl turns bad and throws a screw into everything ;)

Now, the emotional connection between the characters intensifies to the point where the dominance in the groups start to slowly shift.  The emotions run high, people are becoming more assured in who they are and their place in the whole scheme of things.

And you wont BELIEVE who's starting to become the dominant leader
*falls over*
Lets just throw all sexual prejudices out the window, shall we?

When it comes to 'the boys' I'm starting to shift teams.  I love them ALL but, and this may come as a shock to you guys, I'm starting to favor George more *gasp*
I know, he was an annoying little f*ck to me in the previous book, but in this one, with all the changes and challenges and utter WTF moments, his strength of character has grown on me. I'm not necessarily saying he should be with Tara, I like the whole bestie aspect when it comes to their relationship, but maybe he could come home with me (sorry Jeremy) ;)

You all SERIOUSLY have to get this book!
And Heather dear, WRITE MORE!!!

Here's another chance to enter the Giveaway!
Until next time, spread the Wickedness and Happy Reading!

Five Days of Heather Day Two!!!!

Welcome to the second day of the Five Days of Heather!
Today we are reviewing Cold Blood, book two in the Dirty Blood Series!
*happy dance*
Don't forget there's another chance to enter the Giveaway!

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected. For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea. So between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming committee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how did I end up here?

Oooooooh dear Lordy, we're in for it now!
Talk about one whopper of a WTF moment! Seriously, I'm in a love/hate mood right now because it was flipping awesome, yet the cliff hanger was definitely one of those jaw dropping, eyes bulging, cue climatic music types of cliff hangers.
I love them, yet AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

Okay, so in the second installment, we get to have some major fun with new, spunky characters.  They pack a whole lot of attitude into every scene and scenario. You know I love the misfits ;)

And lets talk about a new love interest *wiggles eyebrows*. Duhn duhn Duuuuhn! LOVE TRIANGLE! But a fun one, so don't throw your eReader just yet, okay?
We're talking some confusing, yet truthful, passionately chaotic emotional meltdowns. Its to the point where I don't know which team I'm on and am just yelling at Tara to hurry up and pick one just so I can have the one left out (hey now, my imaginative world is fabulous and I can have as many fictional love interests that I want in my mind, thank you very much).

George, I'm still iffy about him. He's still clinging onto Tara's skirts, trying to stay in her life. He's turning sweet and less needy, which is making me become slightly won over, yet he just has to be soooo stubborn that he ends up getting in a really bad situation.  Yeah, just couldn't let her go, could you dumbass? Now look where it got you! Freaking hormonal men!  Ugh!

Now, while the creepy psycho vibe is still intense when it comes to Miles, aka villain junior, the creepy vibe takes on a whole new level of what-the-ef-ery when they start talking about science experiments with the different breeds, and some of the 'oopsie' moments while tyring to make his little 'pets'.  Now, it's utterlry fascinating from a complete nerdy aspect *pushes up glasses*, but its also fascinating in the 'ohhhh sh*t thats gonna cause some MAJOR f*ed up situations' aspect also. Yay! The masses are pleased!

Now, while I'd normally blab on and on and put most of you guys to sleep or just have you roll your eyes and skip to the giveaway (you lazy cheaters you :P ), I shall make this review short and sweet because I'm dying to read the next book! eep!
So read the Dirty Blood series or be as much of a dumbass as George! *evil laugh*

And now, the Giveaway!
